Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form an agreement between you and the developer of Voice Recorder ("we", "us" or "our") governing your use of the Voice Recorder Android application and this website (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not install or use the App. If you use the App on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for it.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where local law requires a higher age) to use the App. If you are below that age, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

3. The Service

Voice Recorder records audio, plays audio, applies voice effects and trimming, transfers files over your local Wi-Fi network, and can transcribe, translate and summarise audio using models that run on your device. No account is required. Core processing happens locally, as described in the Privacy Policy.

The App is provided free of charge and supported by advertising. It may offer an optional one-time purchase that removes ads. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features, including optional model downloads, at any time.

4. Licence to use the App

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable and limited licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your personal or internal business use.

You must not:

• copy, sell, rent, sublicense, distribute or publicly display the App except as permitted by law or by the app store's terms;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it;
• remove or alter copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices;
• modify, bypass or interfere with the App's security features, ad delivery, purchase verification or the PIN protection used by Wi-Fi transfer;
• use automated tools to overload, scan or abuse the local Wi-Fi transfer server.

Your use of the App is also subject to the terms of the app store you downloaded it from, including the Google Play Terms of Service.

5. Your content and responsibilities

You keep all rights to the audio you record or import, and to transcripts, translations and summaries created from it. We do not claim ownership of your content, and because processing is local, we never receive it.

You are responsible for:

• having the legal right to record the people, voices and audio involved;
• complying with recording, consent, privacy and copyright laws that apply where you are, including laws that require the consent of participants before recording a conversation;
• keeping backups of content you cannot afford to lose;
• the way you use transcripts, translations and AI-generated summaries, and verifying them before relying on them.

Do not use the App to record or process content that is illegal, infringing, harassing or that violates another person's privacy or publicity rights.

6. Advertising and purchases

The App displays advertising delivered by Google AdMob. Ad personalisation is controlled by the consent choices you make in the App's Ad privacy settings and by your device's ad settings. Information about advertising data is in the Advertising section of the Privacy Policy.

The optional "remove ads" item is a one-time, non-consumable purchase processed by Google Play. Your purchase is also subject to Google Play's payment and refund policies. We do not process payments or issue refunds directly. If ads reappear after reinstalling, the App will attempt to restore your purchase; if it cannot, contact us with the Google Play order information.

7. Third-party services

The App relies on services provided by Google (AdMob, Firebase, Google Play Billing and Google Play services) and Hugging Face (optional model hosting). These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. Model downloads may be unavailable, slow or changed by the provider.

8. Transcripts, translations and AI output

Speech recognition and language models can make mistakes. Output may be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable for your purpose, especially with background noise, overlapping speakers, unusual accents, jargon or low-quality audio. The Service does not provide legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. Review and verify any output before relying on it or sharing it.

9. Availability and changes

We try to keep the App working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features that require downloads need a network connection, sufficient storage and, for on-device AI, a compatible device. We may release updates that change behaviour or require you to update the App. We may also discontinue the App or individual features; where feasible, we will give notice on this page or in the App.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that recordings will be error-free, that storage will never fail, or that AI output will meet your requirements.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, recordings, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the App, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to us for in-app purchases in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 20. These limits do not apply where liability cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or use the App unlawfully or in a way that harms other users or the Service. Because there is no account, termination means that you should stop using and uninstall the App. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law, will continue to apply.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the developer's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring a claim in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the App or to legal requirements. The effective date at the top will be revised, and material changes will be announced on this page or in the App before they take effect. If you continue using the App after the updated Terms take effect, you accept the revised Terms.
